10 JUN 2007, Khovd - A. Braunlich

This evening I checked a rather damp (irrigated) and dense patch of vegetation in a poplar plantation – the only site with large willow bushes quite close to my house. A singing Thick-billed Warbler was species no. 207 for Khovd since late October 2005. The same patch held also a singing Blyth’s Reed Warbler, a White-crowned Penduline Tit, a singing Black-faced Bunting, and a skulking female Yellow-breasted Bunting. For both bunting species this was the first observation in Khovd this year. Behind the stadium (see photos below) I saw another male Black-faced Bunting, two Dusky Warblers and a female Eurasian Golden Oriole, the latter following hard on the heels of the first orioles for Khovd a few days ago.

  1. Hello Axel,

  2. Ah more Black-faced Bunting also, too, but it is rather our delaying, not ins one - it had come earlier definitely.
Pallas's Grashopper-Warbler also has arrived and sings today.
